Abstract

Today, one of the problems that most harms society is corruption, which wets the politics of all countries, whatever their system of government, slowing down the economic and social development of nations. The purpose of this article is to analyze the control of public administration and the price of corruption in Bolivia. A description is made of corruption at a global level, particularly in developing countries, to then specifically address the Bolivian case in Latin America. It is a descriptive – analytical – reflective study, which studies the corruption variable from the point of view of the price to be paid for its presence within a nation, and the way it affects society. Information was taken from the Organization for Transparency International and the Ministry of Transparency and Fight against Corruption from 1996 to 2019. The results indicate high levels of corruption in Bolivia over a long period of economic and social history. It is concluded that, in recent years, the Organization for Transparency International warns that little has been done to fight corruption, mainly due to the existence of political influences that affect decision-making. In addition, it is inescapable to consider that the fight against corruption must start from laying solid pillars in school education; that is, instilling ethical principles and values from childhood. Finally, it is imperative to design strategies that allow us to tackle the fight against corruption in a more effective way.
