Adequate personal finances are an ideal state that most people hope to have, especially if it focuses on young university students who apply resources for their education and at the same time prepare themselves academically to have the possibility of generating their monetary resources in the future through the professional and occupational profile that you can perform. However, people's finances have become a real challenge because they are immersed in actions of planning, discipline and perseverance. In addition to this, it is expected to transcend this matter by obtaining the true balance between expenses and savings, which is why would characterize with the term “healthy.” By virtue of this, this essay aims to describe the implications of healthy personal finances in university students under the programs to promote economic and financial education in the country's youth, sponsored by the Ministry of Education. Methodologically, the study focuses on a qualitative approach, with a descriptive scope and a non-experimental design, supported by a bibliographic review and at the same time direct participant observation in the university environment. Demonstrating that young people are concerned about the guarantees of the means of receiving resources, but the tendency to manage emotions causes them to waste the resources obtained at certain times. Likewise, the refusal to relate to the formal Colombian financial system causes them to stay away from the financial products that are offered because in part financial illiteracy leads them to increase their fears of entering the financial system, therefore, the expected balance in personal finances to classify it as “healthy” is minimally achieved by certain youths.
