The purpose of this editorial note is to address the classifications of the paradigms in research, as reflected in various pieces of scientific research, such as: “qualitative Research: guidelines and procedures”, “The paradigms of scientific research”, “The paradigms of research in the social sciences”, “Anthology of qualitative methods in social research” and “The paradigms of scientific research. Advances in Psychology". The writing focuses on only three currents: positivism, interpretative and socio-critical, in such a way that it serves for comparison and scientific knowledge, along with its ontological, epistemic and methodological referents, published in the book “Anthology of qualitative methods in social research”.
