Abstract

Formative research is essential for the development of university students' abilities in aspects of inquiry and generation of evidence that the research process provides, especially when information and communication technologies assist this process. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to describe the appropriate use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to support their research activities and the teaching-learning process imparted by the teachers of the Monteagudo Academic Unit of the San Francisco Xavier University of Chuquisaca. The methodology used was a quantitative approach, applying a non-experimental field design with data collection through the application of individual interviews to the 6 coordinators of each degree program and at the same time to active students studying the degrees offered in this academic unit. The main findings of the study indicate that digital tools must be effectively integrated into teaching-learning and research processes, and that it is crucial to strengthen the technological skills of teachers. Therefore, by improving these capabilities, greater interaction and participation of university students is facilitated, promoting a more dynamic and collaborative educational environment. For this reason, it is necessary to promote skills in teachers both in the field of research and in the management of technology, in order to get students involved in a more interactive and proactive way in research processes. It is concluded that the use of ICT is essential in current education, but the lack of development of digital skills in teachers prevents them from fully taking advantage of these resources in their academic activities.
